OVERVIEW
For NYFW SS27, 3rd Space Productions led production, technical direction, backstage operations, rehearsal, and show direction for Story Wear in collaboration with L.E.R. PR.
Presented at Ideal Glass Studios, the experience moved beyond a traditional runway — bringing together fashion, individual narrative vignettes, live music, art, projection, and performance within one continuously evolving presentation.
The objective was to allow each story to exist independently while operating as one production.
PRODUCTION ARCHITECTURE
A Presentation in Motion
The collection was presented across five distinct vignettes, each functioning as its own visual environment.
Rather than moving the audience through a conventional runway sequence, models inhabited the space while guests circulated around them.
Throughout the presentation, models transitioned from first to second looks while the vignettes remained active.
The experience evolved without stopping.
MODEL FLOW & LIVE ROTATION
Fifteen models moved through the presentation, with second looks introduced through staggered rotations.
Models were released from individual vignettes in controlled groups — moving upstairs for wardrobe changes before returning to the presentation floor.
The release structure maintained visual balance across the room while allowing the collection to transform in real time.
Backstage readiness, model releases, floor positioning, and returns were coordinated through one showcalling system.
The room never needed to stop for the collection to change.
COMPRESSED REHEARSAL
The complete presentation had to be resolved within a tightly protected rehearsal window immediately before doors.
Model routing and positioning were established first, followed by music transitions, performance blocking, and a filmed dress rehearsal.
With multiple creative and technical elements converging simultaneously, rehearsal was treated as an operational sequence rather than a single run-through.
By guest entry, movement, cues, and responsibilities were locked.
LIVE SHOWCALLING
The presentation combined DJ programming, live string quartet, model movement, artist performance, choreographed interaction, and finale progression.
The opening transitioned from DJ to quartet as models entered and populated their respective environments.
Throughout the presentation, music transitions and model rotations continued around the guest experience before resolving into a final quartet-led parade and tableau.
Every cue connected to the next.
Music moved the room.
Timing moved the show.
BEHIND THE PRESENTATION
Story Wear and 3rd Space Productions share the vision behind the brand’s first New York Fashion Week presentation, from its zero-waste approach to the production and show direction bringing the experience to life.
Featuring Kuan Chen, Founder & Creative Director of Story Wear, and Yancy Trinidad, Founder & Producer of 3rd Space Productions.
OUTCOME
Story Wear’s NYFW presentation operated as a collection of individual experiences within one coordinated production system.
Models transitioned between looks.
Music moved between DJ and live quartet.
Art and performance unfolded within the installation.
Guests remained immersed throughout.
Behind the experience, production remained controlled across multiple spaces, departments, and live cues.
Complexity stayed behind the scenes.
The audience experienced the story.
STUDIO PERSPECTIVE
We believe immersive presentations require more structure, not less.
When fashion, performance, music, art, and audience movement share the same environment, every transition becomes part of the experience.
Our role is to build the production architecture that allows those elements to coexist without exposing the machinery behind them.
TESTIMONIAL
It was a real pleasure working with Yancy and the team at 3rd Space Productions on our New York Fashion Week presentation. From planning through to production, they were professional, organized, and creative.
“Most importantly, they understood our brand and translated our vision into an event that felt authentically Story Wear.”
